Highlights from the 2026 AGS Virtual Spring Symposium

On April 9, 2026, the Arkansas Gerontological Society hosted its Virtual Spring Symposium, bringing together healthcare professionals, students, educators, caregivers, and advocates from across Arkansas to explore current topics in healthy aging and gerontological care. The symposium reflected AGS's mission to increase knowledge and skills among professionals, promote services and policies that help individuals age with dignity, and support the next generation of leaders in aging-related fields.

This year's program featured presentations addressing several key areas impacting older adults, including:

  • Heart Health

  • Fall Prevention and Fitness

  • Diabetes Management

  • Chronic Pain

  • Pharmacy and Medication Considerations

The symposium welcomed a diverse audience of nurses, case managers, long-term care administrators, social workers, rehabilitation professionals, students, certified nursing assistants, and other advocates for older adults.

Participants had the opportunity to learn from an outstanding panel of presenters, including Tracey Zeiner, Michael Huber, Michelle Hernandez, Jennifer Clampitt, Naomi Armstrong, Morgan Streett, Samantha Chamberlain, Leah Greenfield, Aparna Jindal, and Randy Henderson.

In addition to providing continuing education opportunities, the symposium highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing the complex healthcare needs of Arkansas's growing older adult population. The event was approved for 5.5 continuing education hours for nurses and licensed nursing home administrators.

The Arkansas Gerontological Society extends its sincere appreciation to all presenters, attendees, sponsors, volunteers, and board members who helped make this event a success. We look forward to continuing our shared mission of promoting healthy aging and improving the quality of life for older adults throughout Arkansas.
